Supporting Nepal’s Children: Rhita Doma Sherpa – our budding architect
Following her trek to Everest Base Camp in 2023, director Robin Quirt started sponsorship of a young girl she met in Nepal to support her studies to become an architect.
It is a seven-year process for Rhita Doma Sherpa but the regular contributions from Robin and the other members of the trekking team will help her complete her education by contributing towards University study fees, accommodation and subsistence costs.
Many Nepali children do not go to school, and education standards vary widely - some schools in the area operate with a single teacher to a class of 50+ and little or no resources.
Supporting Nepal’s Children is a charity set up with the aim to change that - to bring quality education to the remote Nepali villages so that their children can flourish, learn new skills, and create opportunities for themselves whilst staying within their own community. With the support of the many trekkers and climbers who pass through the villages, it aims to help the local education specialists re-equip the schools and rebuild where necessary with the full involvement of the village community.

Namaste and tashi delek everyone, I hope you are keeping safe and well.
Before sharing my academic updates, I wanted to extend my heartfelt condolences regarding the recent floods in Nepal. It has been a deeply tragic situation for so many families across the country and my thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected by this disaster.
On my studies front, I am glad to share that my pre-classes and orientation sessions have now officially concluded, and my main classes at Seed Financial Academy started today! My class schedule will run daily from 9.30am to 1.30pm.
According to the college’s academic plan, I will be taking classes for Financial Accounting (FA) and Business Technology (BT) over the next four and a half months. Following the completion of these modules, I am expected to sit for my exams for these first two papers at the beginning of February 2027.
Thank you so much once again for your continuous support and for making this education possible. I will stay dedicated to my studies and keep you updated on my progress.

First of all, thank you so much to everyone for believing in me.
I wanted to share an exciting update. Today was my very first day at Seed Financial Academy! We had our initial pre-class session from 8am to 9.30am.
It was a great start to the term. We went through an introductory orientation covering our ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) exam portal details, the overall programme structure and a clear breakdown of the syllabus for my first paper, Business and Technology (BT).
Our regular full-length classes are scheduled to begin in September, which will run for three hours daily, with an additional one-hour class added later in the term to ensure thorough exam preparation.
Thank you all once again for giving me this incredible opportunity. I am super motivated and excited to dive deep into my studies as our regular lectures begin!

ACCA student – August intake 2026

Robin and the team received the latest update from Rhita to say that her dad is back at Base Camp on his way to the top of Mt. Everest, while her mum was keeping busy in their little tea shop.
Meanwhile, Rhita is almost at the end of her final semester. From 27th April to 7th May, she has exams and then two years of high school will be complete.
Rhita also added that the computer that was donated to her for her studies is still working and she is learning to type fast!

Robin was happy to receive the latest update from Rhita, regarding her architect studies.
“Namaste and happy New Year. We are doing great here and I hope you are in very good health. I have done my mid-semester and from today we have a winter break of 7 days.
Within April there is my final semester. So academically, we are in a rush to finish the entire books and courses. Anyway, college is going well so far and I’m happy to be here.

Robin was delighted to receive an update from Rhita in Kathmandu, who has used some of the funding from her sponsors to buy a huge pile of course books to continue her studies and prepare for NEB (National Examination Board of Nepal).
In addition to the books, she has also bought pens, lab coat and equipment, sketch books and book rack and is extremely grateful for everyone’s continued support in helping her realise her dreams.
Rhita is doing well and working hard to achieve her ambition of going to university.
Here you can see her with her fellow students. They had an interesting visit to the Natural History Museum of Nepal at Soyambhunath, Kathmandu. After the visit, Rhita wrote and submitted a full 14-page report, which she really enjoyed researching and working on.
We’re looking forward to further updates as her course progresses.

Rhita is studying at school in the Khumbu Valley at Khumjung with the intention of doing what we would term ‘A’ levels in Kathmandu from the Summer onwards, where the classes are better equipped and study levels are higher. She has been awarded a bursary. She is then hoping to go to university to study architecture.
